Trayee began in Chennai in 2014 with a simple frustration — India has the world’s most beautiful fabrics, yet every store sold the same tired kurtis. Our founder Priya set out to bring block prints, handlooms and traditional weaves into a woman’s everyday wardrobe.

Then one phone call changed everything. A pregnant best friend asked Priya to stitch her a few feeding-friendly dresses — and watching her step out with confidence brought back a memory: Priya’s own pregnancy, spent mostly at home, in clothes that never felt like her. So Jananam — meaning birth — was born. Ethnic wear built around what a new mother truly needs: softness, discreet feeding access, and the feeling that she is still, completely, herself.
